May this blog dip into the many articles written about the danger of prolonged sitting. “Sitting: Even Worse for You than Smoking!” (Uncommon Wisdom Daily) “Stand Up for Yourself” (Time Magazine). At the same time, let us explore how and why PEMF can reduce the risk of adverse health challenges caused by physical inactivity. As mentioned in above topic, there is a new silent killer on the block, and believe it or not …..it is you! Well, not exactly you, but it’s what you do every single day of your life.

SittingWe like to think we are a “Stand Up” species.  After all, that’s what drove our evolutionary march away from many of our four-legged ancestors. But the reality is, everywhere we go are invitations to sit down.  In cars, on the subway, when we eat, at the office, at home …….even while waiting for an annual physical. But all that hospitality may not be so good for our bodies.

Sitting for too long more than doubles your risk of diabetes and links with an increase in heart disease. In fact, inactivity is the fourth-biggest killer of adults, according to the World Health Organization.  Studies show that every hour of  watching TV   – presumably while sitting  –  cuts about 22 minutes from our lifespan. In contrast, it’s estimated that smokers shorten their lives by about 11 minutes per cigarette. Prolonged sitting is indeed not what nature intended for us.  “The chair is out to kill us”, says James Levine, an endocrinologist at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Sadly, scientists now believe Americans spend more than half their waking hour sitting.

Sitting at your desk for hours on end, slaving away may increase your chances of getting a promotion, but also increases the risk developing serious illnesses or even an early grave.

So what can you do?  The answer is simple….. get up and move!  Dr. Dermont Phelan of the Cleveland Clinic states: “The good news is, it doesn’t mean that we have to go to the gym for 30 minutes each day.  Just a brisk walk works, and we don’t have to do it continuously.  Even doing 10 minutes three times a day will work.”  For me, it is easy to get lost in my work and minutes turn into hours. But now, there are even apps and websites to help remind us to get up and move around during the day.

Some people are choosing desks that can alternate between standing and sitting.  Standing requires more energy and caloric burn than sitting. Nearly everything you do in between sitting which requires movement will keep that activity machinery well oiled. Therefore, try standing up more than you sit at your desk. Simply managing phone calls on your feet is a good way to start, moving while you talk. Try to keep a small glass of water on your desk which needs to be refilled, taking walks around the office or your home while you are at it. The very ambitious, says Dr. Levine, can urge their colleagues to conduct meetings while standing.

It is important to know that sitting slows down the whole system, making little used cellular machinery less efficient, until eventually cell signals, normally urging the body to move, are drowned by their own inactivity to produce energy.

There PEMF can come to rescue!  Only 8 minutes of magnetic resonance stimulation (MRS) in between sitting can break the inactivity of all cells for the next 6 hours. Not only will it accelerate ATP (adenosine-tri-phosphate) production  – the universal cell fuel which controls EVERYTHING –  the body will also benefit from  boosted circulation and much higher oxygen utilization.  Red blood cells will now stay busy, transporting their valuable cargo to every organ.  Science has proven that magnetic resonance stimulation strengthens all muscles due to accelerated circulation, and at the same time simulates the bending and pressing forces on the bone, normally created by natural movement, a phenomenon impressive to occur while physically inactive.

As taught in my website,  the more you walk, the healthier you are.  The less you walk, the less healthy you are because you are depriving yourself of electromagnetic impulses which are created naturally with every step you take, essential for an optimal cell metabolism. (“These boots are made for walking”-Nancy Sinatra -:)

Bottom line:  Take a break and “pulse”, or place your little local magnetic field applicator (pillow) periodically 30 minutes behind your back or under your feet while sitting, keeping cells excited to do their work,

“STAND UP” FOR YOURSELF AND BE WELL!
