MAGNETIC RESONANCE STIMULATION (MRS) AND ITS IMPORTANCE IN PAIN MANAGEMENT:
- 100 Million Americans suffer from chronic pain
- 42 Million Americans can’t sleep because of pain
- 635 Billion Dollars are being spent a year for pain pills
Pain is vital to humans and all living creatures, because it signals imminent damage to the body. Therefore, pain is not a disease, but rather an important warning sign to protect the body. The pain signal travels via a fast or slow pathway to the brain. The fast pathway allows the organism to immediately detect where the injury is located. The slow pathway develops with prolonged pain. It is a reminder system where the brain stays aware of a previous injury. Emotional pain is also attributed with the slow pathway. It is also the pathway for chronic pain which have become almost an epidemic.
While acute pain is very necessary, chronic pain can develop after long exposure to physical pain. Nerves then may actually hard-wire that pain into some type of neurological memory. In other words, even when the original cause of the pain is gone, you still hurt. The brain is now acting like a computer and the pain is saved, however, should have long been deleted. Conventional medicine, at least in Germany, does not allow pain to linger on no matter what the circumstances are to avoid the possibility of becoming chronic.
While pain pills can indeed make life easier, in the long run they all have side effects as well. Typical treatment of chronic pain has been medication including over the counter drugs like ibuprofen and aspirin. Narcotic such as codeine and morphine block the pain signal altogether. Seventy-Five percent of pain clinics reported success in treating chronic pain by combining traditional pain treatment with complementary therapies.
In Europe, pulsed magnetic fields are widely used in pain management, usually before anything else. This natural therapy is used to avoid addiction issues, complications, and side effects of pain pills. It usually provides a reliable degree of pain relief through convenient treatment done at home.
We need to understand that pain stimuli and stress result in the formation of endogenous opiates, so-called endorphins. This was probably arranged by nature so that the influence of the environment could be better tolerated. For example, we may very well not experience immediate pain when having a serious injury because endorphins can be as strong as morphine. Magnetic fields seem to be vital for endorphin production. Or taken the other way around: Without the earth magnetic field, man would not be able to tolerate the earth. The natural production of endorphins depends absolutely on the existence of the earth magnetic field. Additional endorphin syntheses can be triggered using a pulsating magnetic field. This has far reaching consequences in pain treatment.
Pulsed magnetic fields balance the autonomic nervous system in the most natural but effective way and therefore reduce stress caused by pain. Pain creates stress and stress creates pain. Applying magnetic resonance stimulation (MRS) can interrupt this vicious cycle.
Improved circulation achieved through MRS reduces pain and promotes healing, especially in muscle cramps, muscle tension and accompanying discomfort.
If possible find the source of the pain and treat directly (as with wounds, tissue damage or fractures). Pain nerve signals move from the source of the pain upstream to the brain. Therefore, treatment can be applied anywhere along this path. Pain may be conducted downstream as well (e.g. hip problem can cause knee pain). For this reason it’s ideal to treat the source of the pain, not necessarily where the pain is felt.
MRS prevents excessive stimuli from being relayed to the brain, thus the brain records less pain. The hyper-polarizing effect of magnetic field therapy is a very important factor in controlling pain, equivalent to raising the pain threshold. It may be mentioned that sometimes the most effective pain management is to apply local magnetic field treatment along the spine in addition to treating the source of the pain. This combination allows additional control of the pain signal traffic to the brain where the pain is ultimately recognized.
Applying magnetic resonance stimulation on a regular basis has proven to be the most reliable long-term solution in pain management. Even patients suffering from stubborn or systemic sources of pain have found relieve.
