According to the first written reports, magnetic fields were used for treating a wide variety of health disorders more than 3,500 years ago.  In Greek and Roman times, the use of magnetic fields was mentioned frequently by Aristotle, and Hippocrates.  The Egyptians studied the earth’s magnetic field and its significance for people and animals, including this science into their mysticism. For example, we know that Cleopatra always wore a magnetic headband not only to attract good thoughts but also to relieve her migraine headaches. The medical significance of the earth magnetic field has been well documented in Indian cultures of Central and North America, referring to the earth as the “Silent Healer” up to this day.

It may be very interesting to learn about the significance of sand paintings. Originally, they were not meant to be sold or decorate homes.  Painted in sand, they were used in healing ceremonies. A person in need of healing would sit in the sand painting, thus grounding with the earth. The painting also served as a portal for good spirits, also to absorb their healing energies. Once the ceremony was completed, the sand painting had to be destroyed, allowing the sand to return to the earth. This was necessary because the sand painting was now regarded as toxic, having absorbed the illness, which needed to vanish or be reversed. The entire ceremony, from  painting the sand, placing the ill person in the sand painting, up to destroying it, usually lasted twelve hours.

The booklet, “Native American Wisdom” by Louise Erdrich, covers the most  loving and fundamental admiration of the earth.

WISDOM OF CHIEF LUTHER, STANDING BEAR, OF THE TETON SIOUX TRIBE

“……..He loved the earth and all things of the earth, and the attachment grew with age.  The old people came literally to love the soil and they sat or reclined on the ground with a feeling of being close to a mothering power. It was good for the skin to touch the earth and the old people liked to remove their moccasins and walk with bare feet on the sacred earth.  Their tipis were built upon the earth and their altars were made of earth. The soil was soothing, strengthening, cleansing and healing. This is why the old Indian still sits upon the earth instead of propping himself up and away from its life-giving forces.  For him to sit or lie upon the ground is to be able to think more deeply and to feel more keenly; he can see more clearly into the mysteries of life and come closer in kingship to other lives about him.”

Little did the Indians know about frequencies, micro Tesla or wave signals, nor did they ever need scientific studies about the necessity of the earth’s magnetic field. They simply knew about the gentle force of nature, and still do, regarding MOTHER EARTH THE SILENT HEALER.
